The Cariñena, Carignan or Mazuelo grape is a Spanish red grape that has been planted primarily in the Western Mediterranean, although it is also found in the rest of the world today.
Ampelographers believe that this grape originated in Cariñena, Aragon, and was later taken to Sardinia, the Italian peninsula, France, Algeria and the New World.
“A story of many stories”. That’s Orígenes. Because this is the wine that gave rise to our Bodega. With it, our story began and, thanks to it, we have created more wines, more stories. Each one with its origin and personality. For all of these reasons, this wine is our insignia. And within it, the Tempranillo, Syrah and Cabernet gather together every year. To maintain style and quality; and set an example to the rest of its sibling wines. The way it feels makes it exemplary: intense in the nose, where the red fruits and light reminiscences of wood integrate perfectly. Also, in the mouth. Where it is a rounded and extremely pleasant wine.
It is everything you can ask of a wine.

Tasting notes
Extremely dark wine, garnet red color. Intense and elegant on the nose, expressed with an extensive romatic palate dominated by ripe black fruit, a balsamic touch and hints of scrubland. Agile and direct in the mouth, modern in this sense, the acidic sensation fills our mouths in all directions, present tannicity that lengthens the memory of the wine.
Pairing:
Perfect with red meat and stews.
Wine Making
Fermentation at a moderate temperature, with maceration limited to the skins, and ageing in used barrels with a greater capacity than normal (500 litres), to capture in the bottle the expression of this variety cultivated in our soil and climate conditions.

The vineyards in our meadow are witness to an idyllic natural land, away from the noise of the cities, while it is full of life.
In this magic place where Dehesa de Luna Mazuelo is born, a red wine which transmit all our love to this place.
It does through interesting aromas and pleasant sensations on the palate.
Mazuelo is cultivated and processed in a sustainable way, taking care about the environment around our vineyards.
There result is a complex and medium-bodied wine, with a moderate aroma intensity and soft hints of red fruits. What we are trying to transmit is the core of our vineyards.
Curiosities
Mazuelo is a late-budding grape. It is usually one of the last grape varieties to be harvested in the vintage. The vine is very vigorous and gives high yields, easily producing 200 hectolitres per hectare if not monitored with pruning and green harvesting during the growing season. The late ripening of the grape means that it rarely reaches full maturity unless planted in very warm soils.
